Salary Level: Start: $14.20

SUMMARY
Under general supervision, this position is responsible for work of moderate difficulty in the administrative and clerical field.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Prepare reports, letters, memos from information generated from written or typed rough drafts.
- Maintain divisional /departmental files, records, and logs.
- May be responsible for divisional /departmental payroll function including but not limited to computing daily time cards; receiving and recording absentee records; preparing overtime reports; preparing time sheets; and any other payroll duties.
- Answer telephones, take messages and distribute messages in a fast-paced environment.
- Perform any other duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
None required.

- Perform all duties of an Administrative Clerk I.
- Type an average rate of 45-50 words per minute.
- Good knowledge of City policies and procedures as related to the above mentioned duties.
- Above average computer knowledge.
- Regular prompt attendance is an essential function of this position.
- The ability to get along and promote a harmonious working environment with vendors, supervisors, citizens, and co-workers is an essential function of this position
- The ability to handle sensitive information with professionalism and discretion
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
One year certificate from college or technical school preferred, High School, diploma, or GED required, or three to six months related experience and/or training required; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Must have a valid Louisiana Drivers License
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
