SUMMARY

Under general supervision, is responsible for securing and maintaining compliance with local codes and regulations governing unsanitary and unsightly conditions.  Employees of this classification work independently and in teams of field inspections and will make decisions requiring independent judgment within a framework of established policy.  May consult with and obtain assistance and direction from a superior.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. 

Inspects for and directs corrective action required to ensure general confirmation to codes and ordinances pertaining to Property Standards.

Inspects for litter, trash, refuse, debris, tall grass, weeds, brush, or underbrush, or other public nuisances throughout the City.

Prepares and maintain s necessary records, reports, and files.

Directs the preparation and submission of forms, letters, and related information.

Conducts systematic inspections throughout the City to determine where violations exist. Notifies property owners of violations and advises them of corrective action to be taken. 

Utilize computer skills to ensure smooth operations 

Perform other duties as assigned or required.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).Some experience in working with the public or a combination of training and/or experience that would provide adequate knowledge, abilities, and skills in the related field.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

 

MATHEMATICAL  SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

 

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must possess a valid Louisiana Driver’s License.
