Job Title: Plant Technical Foreman

SUMMARY

Under general supervision, this individual is responsible for work of a technical nature. This is a working foreman position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Supervise, schedule and coordinate work of Plant Technicians I, II, and III. Plan and schedule a Preventative Maintenance Program.

Respond to customer service complaints.

Requisition and account for tools, equipment, supplies, and materials.

Provide on-site repairs and troubleshoot problems.

Train employees in proper and safe use of materials, equipment, and manpower. Maintain work records and files.

Inspect work of crews and provide assistance.

Must be able to perform duties of Plant Technician I, II, and III.

Perform any other duties as assigned.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Manages subordinate supervisors who supervise a total of 2-15 employees who are Plant Technicians I, II, and III.  Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Good knowledge of materials, tools, and procedures necessary to perform job.

Ability to be on 24-hour call.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor's degree (B.S.) or equivalent from a four-year college or university; or four to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must possess a valid Louisiana Driver’s License.

For Waste Water Division, must possess a Wastewater Treatment Class IV License and obtain a Wastewater Collection Class II License.
